Frequently Asked Questions

There are lots of interesting books listed in the bibliography of one of your books I have just bought - where can I get these?
The bibliography lists those books and other sources used by the author in the preparation of the book. Many of these are out of print and have been for many years. Titles with recent publication dates may still be in print - check this by doing a search on Amazon. If you wish to purchase out of print titles you should approach an antiquarian book dealer who may do a book search for you. If you only wish to consult the book then you may be able to locate it at your local reference library. Failing this, you may be able to get the book on inter-library loan. Failing this in turn, one of the Copyright Libraries ( e.g. The British Library ) may have a copy.

My grandfather/Uncle Jim etc. etc. is featured in one of your books in one of the photos. Can you supply me with an enlarged print?
Sadly, no. The photos in our books come from a wide variety of sources and many different copyright holders, some of whom have only granted permission for the use of their photos in book form. Given these constraints, at present the logistics of trying to organise and supply prints make it impossible to supply this service. However, we are aware that there is a demand of sorts for this service and we shall keep looking at it.

There are some places I would like to see books on that you haven't done - when will you do them?
As soon as possible! It really is a help to us to get requests and if you know of someone who might be suitable to compile a book for us or if you know of a great collection of photos we would really like to hear from you.

Some of the books you've published in the past aren't on your list - what's the story about them?
Many of our books have short print runs and are reprinted in even smaller quantities. Consequently, some titles of ours can be unavailable for some time - months, even years - and are then revived once sufficient demand has accumulated to make a reprint economic for us to do. Some of our titles are highly unlikely to re-appear. E-mail us and we'll try and give you an idea whether there's any hope of an imminent reprint.

I've got a query or some information and I'd like to speak to the author. How can I do this?
For security and commercial reasons, we cannot give out authors' home addresses. However, if you write or e-mail us we shall forward your letter to the author. However, it's then up to the author whether they will respond and please try to understand we can't force them!

I want to make sure you keep me informed of new titles. How can I do this?
Register here to be sent info about new titles, special offers etc.

I'm doing some family history research and on page 42 of your book ..........how can I find out more information about .....?
There are many family history societies who may be able to help and have their own publications. See Links to other sites page.
